Music and Lyrics by Roger Miller, Book by William Haupton
September 9 – 25, 2016

Based on the timeless Mark Twain classic, BIG RIVER sweeps us down the mighty Mississippi as the unruly Huck Finn helps his friend Jim, a slave, escape to freedom at the mouth of the Ohio River. Their adventures along the way are full of humor, suspense and heart, bringing to life our favorite characters from the novel, including: the Widow Douglas and her stern sister, Miss Watson; the hilarious King and Duke; Huck’s partner in crime, Tom Sawyer, as well as their rowdy gang of pals; Huck’s drunken father, the sinister Pap Finn; and the lovely Mary Jane Wilkes and her trusting family. Propelled by an award winning score from Roger Miller, the king of country music, this lively journey provides a brilliantly theatrical celebration of pure Americana. Premiering on Broadway in 1985, BIG RIVER went on to win 8 Drama Desk Awards and 7 Tony awards including Best Musical.
