Hello friends of Lucky Penny-

It’s been a while since we gave a status update from the theatre, so as we start a new month, here’s what’s up.

Last week we started remote rehearsals for our “PlayDemic,” a series of short plays about these odd times we are living in. These plays are engaging and funny and we think you will enjoy them. Over the next four weeks we will film these pieces and edit them for online viewing on demand starting Friday, February 26th. Follow this link for virtual seats.

Following that, we’ll be putting together a new music show. This show is called “In the Mood: A Virtual Concert Featuring Favorites from the 1950s Through Today.” It will feature the four talented women who were scheduled to be performing “The Marvelous Wonderettes” this month. That group incudes two popular and familiar performers, Jenny Veilleux and Kirstin Pieschke, and two new faces, Maeve Smith and Chanel Tilghman. We have this show set to debut April 16th, also as an on-demand Video Theatre offering. Should be sensational!
As we mentioned, we SHOULD be presenting “The Marvelous Wonderettes” right now, and getting ready for the remainder of our season, but as you know it’s still going to be awhile before we can open the doors and welcome an audience again. We’re hopeful about the vaccine rollout now, and if we’re lucky it won’t be too much longer before we can make plans that we can actually carry out. Right now we are exploring options for outdoor theatre in the summer and fall that can be done in a way that is safe for audiences, performers, and technicians.

When we return to live theatre, we may need to approach things a little differently for some time – keeping things smaller to reduce risk. That means we may have to postpone some of the bigger shows that are simply not feasible now. But we are committed to keeping our standards high. We are very lucky to have had solid community support to survive this situation. We are continuing to pinch every penny and we feel confident we can make it through the woods. Your donations have made a big difference. If you feel like dropping a few dollars in the pot, here’s the link to our Pandemic Survival Fund.
